New Minecraft Launcher Starts With A Grey Screen

System Restore is your first line defense. It can restore you to the state before the issue began similar to the time machine. You can always reverse it in the event that it does not work. Read  minecraft survival servers  about it in the above tutorial and then try to restore to before the issue started. Try it now if System Restore isn't enabled on C drive to enable it in the near future.

If the problem repeats or System Restore doesn't work then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool explained here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/8280-hide-s...

Even if you've already tried these steps repeat them in order:

1) Run the Store app troubleshooter from Settings>> Update and Security> Troubleshoot.

2) Check for and install updates to games in Microsoft Store app > Hub (three dots at top right) > Updates.

3) Reset Minecraft in Windows Settings > Applications > Applications and Features > Minecraft > Advanced Option > Repair or Reset. Restart your computer and try it again.

If none of those work, uninstall Minecraft from Settings above, reboot your computer then reinstall the program from MS Store Hub (three dots at top right of Store app) > My Library.

4) The driver for the Display is so crucial that merely updating it is often not enough. We must do everything to make sure it's functioning properly.

You can upgrade the driver for the Display on the Display adapter's or PC manufacturer's Support downloads page. This will give you the exact model number, HP Serial No. or Dell Service Tag - as shown on the sticker that is on your PC.

You can also check for BIOS/UEFI firmware, newer chipsets as well as network, sound and other drivers by right-clicking in the Start Menu.

If this doesn't give you the latest or ideal driver for what you need, compare it to the driver offered by the Intel driver update Utility here: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/... or the Nvidia Update utility here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=e... or the AMD autodect utility here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/P...

For Display issues, one solution that is working is to roll back or uninstall the Driver on the Display Device > Driver tab, then restart your PC to reinstall driver.

You can also try older drivers by using Device Manager > Display device > Driver tab > Update Driver> Browse > Let me Select.

This will inform you that you have tried all options in addition to Windows Update drivers.

Adjust the resolution of the screen until it fits and looks best at Settings > Display > System.

5) If nothing else helps then contact Minecraft Support here: https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/requests/new

I hope you find this helpful. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and keep me updated. If you're not willing to rate whether my post solved your issue I'll continue to work with you until you are satisfied.
